Dofus is a fantasy MMORPG that was released back in September of 2005. The game was developed and published by a French company named Ankama Games. Originally it was a free to play (f2p) game and while certain parts of the game can still be played for free, the game has mostly pay to play (p2p) players. Dofus runs on Adobe Flash Player and is a 2D anime-looking game. When you download the game you get a version of Adobe Flash Player with the installation.

The Dofus game is set in the world of Amakna which is the company’s name spelled in reverse. The current Dofus game client version is 1.24.0. There are two additional expansions for the Dofus game; they are: Dofus Arena and WAKFU. Currently there are over three million subscribers to Dofus around the world with a big population of players in France.

Dofus has a wide variety of character classes that you can play. There are twelve Dofus characters available to choose from but some are reserved for paying players only. Each Dofus character class has its own special abilities and skills unique to that class. The twelve character classes are Ecaflip’s Coin, Sadida’s Boots, Eniripsa’s Hands, Osamodas’s Whip, Iop's Heart, Enutrof's Fingers, Cra's Range, Sram's Shadow, Feca’s Shield, Xelor's Sandglass, Sacrier's Blood, and Pandawa. Each Dofus character has a god associated with its name and abilities. For example the Sacrier’s Blood is a Berserker type that deals out massive amounts of damage the more they hit. Their abilities are associated with their god, Sacrier.

Dofus offers just as much variety in their character classes as they do their items and currency. Dofus kamas are the currency and lifeblood of all who seek to trade, sell and buy. An aspiring merchant can make it big in dealing Dofus items or lose it all if they’re not careful.

Dofus has a very in-depth story line and is great for the role player. The content is updated quite regularly by Ankama Games. Even if you’re not into role playing you may find enjoyment from their crafting system. They offer things such as Baker, Fishmonger, Jeweller, Handyman, and Wand Carver. These are just a few of the professions that you’ll find in Dofus.

While there are a set amount of professions, there are a few things that aren’t considered professions. Basic and Breeder are two skills that anyone in Dofus can take and train. Basic is nothing more than a simple gathering and crafting skill that allows you to do a minimal amount of tasks that anyone could perform. Basic offers no specialization of any kind and advancement takes much less time than others. Breeder is exactly what it sounds like. You breed creatures and raise them how you see fit. People enjoy collecting Dofus pets and also breeding as well to watch them grow.

Dofus Pets

Pets are one very interesting part of Dofus and allow players to increase their stats much like equipment. Having a Dofus pet is much like having a sword that gives you more strength or armor that increases your defense. There are hundreds of pets available to Dofus players and some are only available to players who have special subscriptions. There is even a lottery system that will allow you to win certain pets. People who really enjoy collecting pets can play Dofus for that purpose only.
